Their coach, Martha Karolyi is retiring and this was this most epic send off they could do. They scored 184.897 when the silver medalist, Russia, weren’t even close.
America is always expected to win gymnastics, but this was not expected for them to blow everyone else out of the water. I mean the mat. They literally were head and shoulders above each of the other teammates. The team deemed themselves as “The Final Five.” It is a very fitting name because they are the last team for Martha. I am happy to say they took gold.
